Every year thousands of Apple fans stand outside the Apple Store to get the latest iPhones and this year is no different. However, this craze for the Apple products is not just beneficial to tech giant Apple. But at the same time, it is an opportunity for other brands to market their product.
Back in the days, we have seen Samsung doing it. However, their idea was pretty dumb. But this year we have seen something crazy from the Huawei side.
Instead of selling their products, Huawei handed over free power banks to Apple fans standing in the queue. Also, they did poke apple for the poor battery performance of iPhones. The packaging of the power banks says:
“Here’s a power bank. You’ll need it.”
The company handed over 200 power banks of 10,000mAh capacity to customers waiting outside the Singapore Apple Store. The main purpose of this publicity stunt was to draw the attention of the Apple fans on the poor battery life. Even some other reports suggest that it was a marketing hack that Huawei used to promote one of the key features of the P20 smartphone which offers great battery life.
Talking about the battery, Huawei’s P20 Pro comes with 4,000 mAh battery which offers a single day battery life.
However, this is not the first time when Apple has faced competition from Huawei. Even Huawei surpassed Apple to becomes the world’s second biggest phone seller in the month of July. Also after that recent Apple launch event, Huawei CEO Richard Yu posted on his Weibo page saying “No problem now, see you in London on Oct. 16!”
In the end, we have to see if Huawei can really leave an impact on the Apple fans head and make them switch to an Android device or not. But as the iPhone pricing is rising up, it seems that most of the Apple fans will switch to an Android device.
